A Columbus teenager died Thursday from injuries sustained in a house fire Sunday.

Ty’Qwan June, 16, was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m. in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, said Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

The cause of death was smoke inhalation, Bryan said.

“Family was at the hospital at the time of death,” he said in a text message to Columbus media.

An account at GoFundMe.com has been established to raise money for the family, which lost their home in the fire, according to the organizer, Kim Parker.

She wrote in the fundraiser’s explanation that Ty’Qwan’s mother “has to worry about clothing and providing for her 2 younger children.

“With Christmas being this month, we want to make sure all of their basic needs of clothing, shoes, and day-to-day supplies are provided, but we also want to make sure she can provide a Christmas for them as well.”

As of 9 a.m. Friday, $11,866 from 167 donors had been raised toward the $25,000 goal.

Parker called Ty’Qwan’s mother “a faithful and constant employee to us, loving friend to so many, and hard-working mom.

‘Please consider a donation to help us bless them this Christmas season.”
