Christmas Day fire on Old Macon Road in Columbus leaves one dead and several displaced

A fire on Old Macon Road on Christmas Day has left one person dead and multiple people displaced, according to Columbus Fire & EMS.

Columbus Fire & EMS division chief John Shull told the Ledger-Enquirer the fire department was called around 5 a.m. Wednesday to the fire at Westover Glen Condominiums, 4312 Old Macon Road.

Shull said approximately four units were affected and an estimated 12 people have been displaced due to the fire. He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The female victim was found inside one of the apartments that caught fire, according to Shull.

The identity of the victim wasn’t released by the time of publication.
