Columbus nonprofit to open emergency warming station as temperatures drop below freezing

Colder weather is headed toward the Chattahoochee Valley, and the Columbus area can expect temperatures to dip below freezing the next few nights, according to a National Weather Service forecast.

A Columbus homeless charity will open as a warming station to provide shelter from the freezing temperatures.

SafeHouse Ministries, 2101 Hamilton Road, will be open from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 1 p.m. Friday as a warming station, according to a flyer provided by the nonprofit organization.

No one will be turned away, and no questions will be asked, the flyer says.

For those who would like to help,SafeHouse welcomes donations of coffee, sugar and toilet paper, according to its Facebook page.
