Woman dies in fire on Ruben Street in Columbus. Coroner asks for help locating family
A woman is dead after a fire Saturday at a Columbus apartment complex, according to the Columbus Fire Department.
Columbus Fire Department Division Chief John Shull told the Ledger-Enquirer fire crews responded at 5:41 p.m. Saturday to a fire at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Ruben Street.
Shull said 11 units responded to the fire. The victim was found lying on a bed in a bedroom inside an apartment, according to Shull.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Lisa Roden, 61.
Bryan said the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office wants help locating Roden’s next of kin. He requests anyone with information about Roden’s family to call 911 and ask to speak to the coroner.
Shull said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
