Investigation underway after unidentified human remains found in Lee County, coroner says
An investigation is underway after unidentified human remains were found in Lee County, according to Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton.
Sexton said the remains were found around 5 p.m. CST Monday in the 5000 block of Lee Road 391.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office submitted the remains to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences’ Montgomery Medical Facility for identification and a postmortem exam to determine the cause and manner of death, according to Sexton.
Sexton said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the events leading up to the victim’s death.
Sexton told the Ledger-Enquirer the sex of the victim is unknown.
