The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a deputy for allegedly bringing illegal contraband into the Muscogee County Jail, according to a Facebook post from Sheriff Greg Countryman.

The post said MCSO’s Special Operations Unit investigated allegations regarding contraband being brought into the jail.

Countryman’s post said MCSO Deputy Ryan (Khalil) Jones was arrested after evidence showed he brought illegal contraband to inmates inside the jail.

The post said Jones was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony violation of oath of office, two counts of felony giving prohibited items to inmate, two counts of felony crossing the guard line, felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Countryman told the Ledger-Enquirer Jones has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
