Columbus temporarily changes yard waste fees for part of the city impacted by storm
The Columbus Consolidated Government’s Department of Public Works is enacting a moratorium on the collection of yard waste in the Midland area following a storm that hit the area Sunday, CCG announced Tuesday.
The storm resulted in the deaths of a father and son at a Midland golf course and led to power outages around Columbus.
“A moratorium on the collection of tree debris for the Midland area and other areas, on a case-by-case basis, where impact is determined,” the news release says.
Any resident with large tree debris from the storm will be collected free of charge from April 9 through May 31. Tree for fees will apply after this period, the release says.
Residents can call 311 to submit their order for debris collection, according to the release.
CCG reminds those with storm debris to ensure it is cut no longer than 4 feet in length. CCG also asks residents to place debris on the curb for collection not next to stationary objects.
Storm debris not meeting these requirements will not be collected and will be left for the resident to dispose of, the release says.
