Man on bike dies after being shot multiple times in Columbus. Victim identified

An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting Friday in Columbus, the Columbus Police Department announced on X.

The department’s X post said the investigation was underway Friday afternoon in the area of Rigdon Road and Colorado Street. One person died, authorities say.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Jaylon Wesley, 27. Bryan said Wesley was shot multiple times in the middle of the road in the 3000 block of Colorado St.

Wesley was on a bicycle, according to Bryan. Wesley was pronounced dead at 2:36 p.m., Bryan said.

CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, according to the post.
