Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan is asking the public for help in identifying an unidentified person pulled from the Chattahoochee River Tuesday night.

Bryan said the body was pulled from the river around Bulldog Bait & Tackle on Victory Drive. He said the body was unable to be identified due to its condition, and that the victim was a male wearing black basketball shorts.

No visible signs of foul play were seen, according to Bryan. He told the Ledger-Enquirer no markings, such as tattoos or piercings, were visible on the victim’s body.

Bryan has asked anyone with a missing family member or friend to call the coroner’s office to assist with identification.

Daniel Macon, deputy chief of operations at Columbus Fire & EMS, said fire department units responded to the call around 7:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Macon said it took the two responding units around 20 minutes to retrieve the body from the river.
