One man is dead after an accident Thursday night on Manchester Expressway in Columbus, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan identified the victim as Tyler Carr Cashbaugh, 37, an attorney at the Columbus law firm Page, Scrantom, Sprouse, Tucker & Ford.

Bryan said the head-on collision occurred about 1 mile west of County Line Road on Manchester Expressway. Cashbaugh was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 p.m., according to Bryan.

Bryan said the manner of death is accidental and the cause of death is blunt-force trauma to the chest and head. Cashbaugh was wearing a seat belt, according to Bryan.

Bryan said another driver and two children were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

“No charges pending as Mr. Cashbaugh apparently cross(ed) over the median and collided with the Ram truck,” Bryan said in a text message to reporters.

Cashbaugh was driving a rented Nissan car, Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer.

Page Scrantom president Kenneth Evans Jr. told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email Friday, “We are deeply saddened by Tyler’s death and pray for his family as well as for the other families impacted by this tragic event.”
