Victim identified in fatal vehicle accident on Cherokee Avenue in Columbus
The Columbus Police Department responded to the scene of a fatal accident Wednesday in Columbus, according to CPD Public Information Officer Brittany Santiago.
The accident took place on Cherokee Avenue around 1:26 p.m., according to Santiago.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as 84-year-old Gilbert Maulsby.
Maulsby suffered a cardiac arrest, Bryan said. Maulsby was wearing a seat belt at the time of the single-vehicle accident, according to Bryan.
Bryan said Maulsby was a former doctor. Maulsby graduated from the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University in 1967 and specialized in diagnostic radiology, according to WebMD.
