Four DJs will bring music not typically heard in the Chattahoochee Valley when they perform at a downtown Columbus restaurant and bar on Halloween

The Loft, 1032 Broadway, in collaboration with Delta Productions, will host a Halloween event featuring EDM (electronic dance music) artists Olan, QRTR, Scartoon and Spentendo64 at 9 p.m. Friday, according to The Loft’s website.

Reeve Glisson, promoter for Delta Productions, says the name comes from needing a change in culture in entertainment options in Columbus.

“It kinda seems that there’s only one form of entertainment in terms of when it comes to certain types of music,” Glisson said.

Delta Productions seeks to bring different genres not offered in Columbus, he said.

Glisson considers the Halloween event at The Loft as “Delta’s kickoff event.” He said two of the four DJs playing this weekend are from Columbus: Spentendo64 and Olan.

Olan and QRTR did over 20 dates with renowned EDM duo ODESZA for The Last Goodbye tour, according to Glisson.

Glisson said he hopes the event will provide exposure to these types of sounds and options being available.

“It doesn’t necessarily have to be like (a) guy with a guitar,” he said. “It doesn’t have to be a cover band playing the same sing-a-longs that we’ve all heard — which is fine, there’s a place for that, and we need that for people to go have that type of fun. But I think it’s OK for us to diversify those options and bring in different stuff.”

Glisson said the military, through Fort Benning, brings a diverse range of people from different areas of the United States to Columbus who may enjoy sounds they would hear in their hometowns.

“If there’s people here from Chicago or Detroit, where house music was born, they may enjoy that there’s this music that’s essentially showing homage to what was created in their hometown,” Glisson said.

Glisson said the event will feature a costume contest with cash prizes of $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. The cost to attend the event is $20 at the door. The event ends at 1 a.m., according to The Loft website.
