A Russell County woman was killed Monday while riding a dirt bike that collided with a car.

Amy Rose, 42, died from the injuries she sustained in the crash on Tarver Road in Seale, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

Rose was a passenger on the back of the motorcycle her husband was driving around 7:30 p.m. Monday , when the crash occurred, Sumbry told the Ledger-Enquirer.

“She was not wearing a helmet,” he said.

The husband also wasn’t wearing a helmet, Sumbry said, but his injuries were minor.

An ambulance transported Rose to the emergency room in a Columbus hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:46 p.m., Sumbry said. Her body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy, he said.

It’s unclear whether any criminal charges have been filed in this case. The Russell County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the scene, Sumbry said. Sheriff Heath Taylor referred the L-E’s questions to ALEA, which wasn’t reached for comment before publication.
