Single-vehicle crash on Fortson Road leaves one dead in Columbus, officials say

A single-vehicle crash over the weekend on Fortson Road in Columbus has left one man dead, according to officials.

Officers responded to the crash on Fortson Road, just south of Almond Road, according to a post on the Columbus Police Department’s X page.

The driver was pronounced dead, according to the post.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the victim as Brandon Terran McRae, 39.

Bryan said McRae was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:38 a.m. Sunday.

The vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree, according to Bryan.

Bryan said McRae’s body was ejected from the vehicle.

CPD’s motor squad is handling the investigation, according to the post.
