Woman dies after head-on collision in Phenix City, Russell County coroner says

A two-vehicle accident Thursday in Phenix City resulted in the death of a 57-year-old woman, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

Patricia Mack, 57, of Seale, Alabama,, was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m. Thursday after a head-on collision between Highway 431 and Highway 165 in Phenix City, Sumbry told the Ledger-Enquirer.

Mack suffered blunt-force trauma injuries, according to Sumbry.

The Phenix City Police Department said officers responded to the accident around 1:45 p.m. Thursday. The other driver suffered injuries as well and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the news release.

The PCPD Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is investigating due to the severity of the accident, according to the news release.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
