Russell County coroner identifies body found behind Phenix City building

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. has released the identity of a man whose decomposed body was found behind a Phenix City building last month.

Sumbry identified the victim as Kevin Baker, 49. Baker was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m. Feb. 25 in the 900 block of Broad Street.

The victim’s body would be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery to determine cause and manner of death, Sumbry told the Ledger-Enquirer at the time.

Sumbry said the preliminary autopsy report is pending.

The Phenix City Police Department asks anyone with information about the case to call Lt. Anglin at 334-448-2835 or Investigator Silva at 334-448-2838.
