Man on bicycle dies from blunt-force injuries in crash with truck in Phenix City

A man in his 60s who was riding a bicycle was killed in a crash with a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck Monday in Phenix City, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

The crash happened at the intersection of Sandfort Road and Dawson Road around 6 a.m., Sumbry said. The victim was pronounced dead at 8:22 a.m. from blunt-force trauma injuries, he said.

Sumbry told the Ledger-Enquirer in a text message Monday evening he won’t release the name of the victim until the next of kin is notified.
