Residents across Georgia are preparing for the third No Kings Day event, including a protest taking place in Columbus on March 28.

What is the “No Kings” protest?

The “No Kings” protests are organized by a broad national coalition led by the progressive advocacy group Indivisible, in partnership with many other major activism-forward organizations.

Major tenants of the movement:

  • A national, decentralized protest movement aimed at President Donald Trump’s second administration and what organizers describe as his “wannabe king” approach to power.
  • Plays on a basic idea that presidents are elected public servants, not monarchs, and their authority is limited.
  • A response to a combination of ICE raids, the expanded use of federal agents and National Guard troops in cities, crackdowns on protest and voting rights, and the ongoing costs of war and domestic militarization.
  • A nonviolent show of people power, and a Constitutional way to push back against authoritarian tendencies.
