12-year-old boy dead following single-vehicle crash in Phenix City

A 12-year-old boy is dead after a single-vehicle crash Saturday in Phenix City, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

Sumbry said the victim, Allen Wray, was riding in the vehicle around 5 a.m. when it struck a tree on Pine Ridge Trail in Phenix City.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:23 a.m., according to Sumbry.

Sumbry said the child’s body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.

The driver’s condition was not immediately known.
