Driver access to parts of a Columbus shopping center will be tougher this week

Driver access to parts of a Columbus shopping center will be restricted this week.

The turn lanes into the Chick-fil-A at 5520 Whittlesey Blvd. and the Smokey Bones at 5555 Whittlesey Blvd. in Columbus Park Crossing are scheduled to be closed June 1-4 to allow crews to complete irrigation repairs in the area, according to the Columbus Consolidated Government.

The Smokey Bones at that location permanently closed in April.

“Motorists are encouraged to use caution, expect minor traffic delays and seek alternate routes when possible while work is underway,” CCG’s news release says. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during these repairs.”

The news release doesn’t offer alternate routes but suggests contacting CCG interim director of facility maintenance Allen Minton at 706-225-4946 or minton.edward@columbusga.org for more information. The Ledger-Enquirer did that and will update this story when the answer is received.
