Come enjoy the Blues, Brews and Q Festival
The Allman Brothers Band will not be in Columbus Friday night, but its music will be.
Tribute a Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band is a nine-piece band that recreates the sound of the famous musical act. The group will kick off the 2nd annual Blues, Brews and Q Festival with a performance at 7 p.m. on the lawn of the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
Since 2013, Tribute has been recreating the sound with the driving rhythms the Allman Brothers Band produced over the first five years of its career. The group has become a popular act throughout the South.
Hits by the Allman Brothers Band include "Ramblin Man," "Midnight Rider" and "Straight from the Heart."
But that's just the beginning of the festival. Sponsored by Uptown Columbus Inc. and the RiverCenter, the festival will feature several Blues acts Saturday.
From 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday Nic Chavers, Kent DuChaine, Tim O'Brien, Lady V, Peggy Jenkins, Rev James, Neal Lucas and Jimi "Prime Time" Smith will also perform.
The smell of barbecue will fill the air as local backyard barbecue masters compete in the People's Choice Cook-off from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Barbecue lovers can taste and vote for their favorite flavor. While the music is free, there is a $15 fee for tasting the barbecue and only 1,200 tickets will be sold.
