MCSO to host Easter Egg Roll at Woodruff Riverfront Park
The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Amerigroup Real Solutions Saturday to bring the community its second annual Easter Egg Roll.
The autism-friendly event, which is free and open to the public, will held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Woodruff Riverfront Park at 1000 Bay Ave. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Project Lifesavers, a nonprofit organization that uses “tracking bands” to locate those with cognitive disorders who wander away from their loved ones.
The Easter Egg Roll festivities will include free egg hunts, golden egg prizes, bouncy houses, edible sand art, music, candy, autism resources and information about Project Lifesavers.
“We also have word that the Easter bunny will be making an appearance,” Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr announced in a news release.
As of Monday, the event has attracted 21 vendors that will supply food or items available for purchase. The vendor fees will be donated to Project Lifesavers group, which has a 100 percent success rate, according to its website.
The core of that success stems from the use of tracking bands, which cost about $345 each with the price of battery replacement and maintenance included.
“To date, we have been able to place 17 bands on individuals in the Muscogee County area,” Darr said Monday. “This would not have been possible without help from our amazing sponsors and donations from the community.”
