1. Missing teens found dead on County Line Road: The bodies found Tuesday with a wrecked motorcycle on County Line Road were identified as the two teenagers who went missing on May 17. Coroner Buddy Bryan said a man reported finding James Cole and Sierra Von Der Heide, both 18, about 2 miles from Cole’s residence. Their deaths were ruled accidental, the coroner said: “Apparently they ran off the road and down an embankment.”
2. Police: Mother had two kids assist in shoplifting at Peachtree Mall: Lavette Thompson, 29, had her two children under the age of 10 assist her with shoplifting on June 11 at Macy’s. She pleaded not guilty to multiple charges on Monday and was order held in the Muscogee County Jail under bonds totaling $3,500.
3. Is Peachtree Mall really that dangerous: A growing number of local residents perceive the mall as a dangerous place in the wake of recent mall shootings, according to Ledger-Enquirer interviews. Many said they have avoided the mall in recent months because of what they believe to be an escalation of crime. And some said they prefer shopping at other shopping centers, where they feel safer.
4. Man shot to death at Double Churches Park: Authorities have identified a 24-year-old Jonesboro, Ga., man who was gunned down Wednesday near the basketball courts at Double Churches Park, Coroner Buddy Bryan said. Demonde Donya Dicks Jr. was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the head at the scene at 3:45 p.m.
5. Tuesday preliminary winners in Miss Georgia Pageant: The 72nd annual Miss Georgia Pageant kicked off Tuesday with Miss Southeast Georgia Sarah DeLoach and Miss Historic Southern Plains Mackenzie Marable named preliminary winners.
