Chattahoochee County voters to choose new sheriff

Glynn Cooper has been the sheriff of Chattahoochee County since 1973. Tuesday, voters will decide who replaces him.

In a runoff election, Henry “Hank” Lynch takes on Michael Sizemore.

Voting will be from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Roscoe Robinson Activity Center in Cusseta, Ga.

In May, Lynch collected the most votes among four candidates but not enough to win the position.

According to the Chattahoochee County Board of Elections, Lynch had 377 votes while Sizemore had 194, Walter Kinney 177 and William Monkus 57.

There is also a runoff for the job of sheriff in Marion County.

Two Republicans are vying for the opportunity to run against the incumbent Derrell Neal in November.

Guy Grimsley and Eric Ivey are the candidates.

A runoff election will decided who represents District 5 on the school board in Troup County.

The candidates are Catherine Hunt and John Asbell.

In Taylor County, it is the incumbent Cicero Latimore versus Ronald Jackson to represent District 1 on the county commission.

In May, Latimore had the same number of votes as Jackson and Tobie Munford combined but not enough to win the position.
