1. Four victims identified in fiery Russell Co. crash

Here are the four people killed in an Aug. 13 crash on Ala. 26 in Russell County between a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Avalon: Dyanna Nicole Dixon and Travis Latrell Davis, both 33 and from Columbus, were passengers in the Ford; Deontaye Caple, 19, of Phenix City man drove the Toyota, and Desmond James, 18, of Phenix City was his passenger. Dixon and Caple were pronounced dead on the scene. Davis died shortly after being transported to Mitown Medical Center, and James died at the hospital Monday.

2. New shopping centers coming to north Columbus

A French bistro named Soiree, a Blimpie subs and an Ace Hardware are on their way to Blackmon Road as development picks up pace near the Walmart Neighborhood Market. Developer Ben Billings said he’s about 30 days from opening a 9,800-square-foot strip shopping center to also include a liquor store called Midland Beverage, a Cuts by Us hair shop and a Posh Nails and Spa.

3. Police: Calls, texts show Double Churches suspects planned murder

Phone records between three men accused in the June shooting at Double Churches Park indicate that they planned the robbery and slaying of 24-year-old Demonde Donya Dicks Jr., according to testimony on Aug. 17 in Columbus Recorder’s Court. Derian Waller, 25, Akeveius Powell, 21, and Jacquawn Clark, 19, appeared together in court for the first time to face charges surrounding the Jonesboro’s man’s death.

4. ‘Underperforming’ Ruby Tuesday closes in Columbus

Ruby Tuesday, which announced last week it was closing 95 restaurants by September, has already pulled the plug on the location at 6780 Veterans Parkway in north Columbus. The eatery’s parking lot is empty and signs on its doors Sunday informed the public it has been closed. “Please visit us at our Peachtree Mall location,” the signs said.

5. 30-year-old man found at bottom of neighborhood pool

Columbus police detectives are investigating a death after Bradley Kee of Columbus was found dead at the bottom of a neighborhood pool in the Moores Forest subdivision Aug. 13. Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said two children wearing goggles entered the pool and told their parents they saw what appeared to be a man at the bottom of the pool.
