Man hospitalized after gunmen fire on crowd in LaGrange backyard

A LaGrange, Ga., man was treated for gunshot wounds late Tuesday after a robbery in the 100 block of Cannon Street, police said.

The victim was flown from West Georgia Medical Center to an Atlanta area hospital after the 9:28 p.m. shooting. The man was treated for two gunshot wounds, one to the abdomen and a second to his upper leg.

Police said officers were called to the area to check on gunshots when they received more calls indicating a person had been robbed and possibly shot. Authorities later received a call from West Georgia Medical Center stating that a victim was in the emergency room with gunshot wounds.

An investigation revealed the victim was in a backyard visiting friends when three men, two armed with pistols, demanded money before they started firing as the crowd scattered.

No specific description was listed for the suspects. The robbery remains under investigation.
