Two days after she was accused of assaulting an inmate while on duty, juvenile corrections officer Phoenicia Hill was fired Friday from her position at the Muscogee Youth Development Campus
A letter of termination from the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice was sent to the facility to confirm that Hill, 29, is no longer employed there at the end of the day, an official said.
Hill was taken into custody at 3 p.m. Wednesday by Muscogee County sheriff’s deputies off Old Cusseta Road. She was charged with one count each of violation of oath by a public officer and sexual assault against an underage inmate in custody. She was released on bond around 2 a.m. Thursday from the Muscogee County Jail.
In a release on Thursday, the Department of Juvenile Justice confirmed the arrest of Hill following an internal investigation at the Muscogee Youth Development Campus in Columbus. She was on suspension with pay immediately upon allegations of misconduct. Investigators received information that resulted in the two charges.
