Columbus man pleads not guilty to raping child
A 27-year-old Columbus accused of raping a girl younger than 10 waived his preliminary hearing Friday morning in Columbus Recorder’s Court.
Mikhail Allen Benjamin pleaded not guilty to rape, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy and one other sexual assault charge. He was ordered held in the Muscogee County Jail after being denied bond on multiple charges.
Judge Michael Cielinski bound the case over to Superior Court.
The Columbus Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit declined to release details about the incident, but a police report indicates that it occurred near Gentian Boulevard on Aug. 11.
