Suspect named in Opelika shooting on North Antioch Circle
A day after a man was found shot in the roadway in the 500 block of North Antioch Circle, Opelika police have named a suspect in the death of Shaquille O. Jones.
The suspect was identified Wednesday as Vantavious Quintez Hughley’s but his location is unknown. He has been charged with murder in the Tuesday death of Jones, 23.
An officer was on patrol in the North Antioch Circle area when someone flagged down the officer about 6:15 p.m. on a shooting. Jones was found lying in the roadway.
Jones died before emergency medical services personnel arrived at the scene where he was pronounced dead.
Hughley, 20, is described as black, about 6 feet tall and weighing 135 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
