Three men are facing robbery charges after the Garden Fresh Grocery Store was robbed Tuesday and a witness followed the fleeing vehicle until police arrested the trio, Columbus police said.

Police identified the suspects as Michael B. Taylor, 30, Marcus Ellis, 28, and Ryshawn J. Bradford, 30, all of Columbus. They were taken into custody at Cusseta Road and Brown Avenue about 15 minutes after the 12:15 p.m. robbery at 2001 S. Lumpkin Road.

Ellis, the suspected gunman, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt to commit certain crime. Taylor and Bradford each faces a robbery charge. All are held in the Muscogee County Jail for a 9 a.m. Thursday hearing in Recorder’s Court.

Police said a man entered the market, pointed a pistol and demanded all the money. The cashier handed the robber cash and the man fled toward Plantation Road. A witness said the suspect entered a gold Chevy Tahoe and left the area.

Police and other responding officers stopped the vehicle at Brown Avenue and Cusseta Road. A suspect in the front passenger seat was caught after a foot chase while the driver and back seat passenger were arrested at the scene.
