Teens having sex at Columbus Tech slapped with public indecency charge
Two teens were charged with public indecency Thursday after they were found having sex in a stairwell at Columbus Technical College, authorities said.
Marquez J. Clayton, 17, and girl, 16, were each charged with public indecency. Clayton was taken to the Muscogee County Jail where bond was set for $600 for a 8:30 a.m. Wednesday hearing in Municipal Court. The girl was charged as a juvenile, said Columbus Tech Police Chief Tom Barnes.
The chief said the campus police received the call about 10:50 a.m. The two students were found on the bottom floor in a back corner of the library.
“Yes, it’s against the law,” the chief said of the public indecency charge . “We just tell them to take it elsewhere . We are an institution of higher learning.”
The students were enrolled in the Adult Education Program which is commonly referred to as the GED program. They were no longer attending a public high school.
