Man robbed at knifepoint in Opelika

A man armed with a knife robbed a man Friday night on South Fourth Street in Opelika, authorities said in a news release.

The victim was able to escape the 8:15 p.m. incident without injuries.

Opelika police said the victim was walking near Avenue E when a man armed with knife approached him from behind. He demanded money and then left with the victim’s property.

The robber was described as a bearded black man who is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He was dressed in all black clothing and appeared to be in his 20s, according to the release.
