Valley police release name of woman found dead in driveway after dispute
Authorities have released the name of the 55-year-old woman who they said was found dead Wednesday afternoon following a dispute at a Valley, Ala. residence on County Road 388.
Officials identified Judith Dawson of Tuskegee as the victim. Her body will be transported to the Alabama State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Authorities were called a residence in the 4300 block of County Road 388 around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a shooting. They found Dawson dead in the driveway with a gunshot wound.
Officials later determined that Dawson and two other women went to the residence, where Dawson allegedly got into a dispute with the homeowner and the homeowner’s 18-year-old son.
“During the confrontation, two shots were fired,” Maj. Mike Reynolds said in a news release. “A .22 rifle was seized from the residence, and a .22 pistol was seized from the body of Dawson. Both weapons had been fired once.”
Officials said they have taken the homeowner’s son into custody for questioning, but no charges have been filed at this time.
