Alabama State Troopers investigated 10 fewer traffic deaths this Thanksgiving weekend than last year.

According to a new release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, there were six traffic deaths compared to 16 in 2016.

The five -day weekend went from 12:01 a.m. Wednesday to midnight Sunday.

Lives were lost in four Alabama counties, Bibb, Sumter, Butler and Autauga.

Mostly single-vehicle crashes, one involved a passenger vehicle and a train which resulted in two fatalities.

Five of those killed were passengers. Only one of the six killed was wearing a seat belt.
