Gunman charged after robbing man of $30 at Columbus apartment, police say
A 22-year-old was accused of robbing a man at gunpoint late Monday at a Pembrook Drive apartment, authorities said.
Tyler Williams faces one count each of armed robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and obstruction. He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail for a 8 a.m. Thursday hearing in Columbus Recorder’s Court.
Columbus police were called to 935 Pembrook Drive around 12:47 a.m. Tuesday to investigate an armed robbery. They spoke with a man who reported being robbed by a tall, slim black man dressed in all black with a low haircut and goatee.
He said the suspect placed a gun in his face and stole about $30 in cash.
Authorities found a man matching that description running near 1035 Pembrook Drive moments later. He was taken into custody and charged.
The suspect, who was identified as Williams, was allegedly in possession of a Glock 22 pistol, 5 grams of marijuana and $15 in cash when they arrested him.
