Traffic stop leads to trafficking in Ecstasy charge on I-185 at Macon Road
Two men face possession or trafficking in Ecstasy charges after the vehicle they were riding in was stopped early Monday on Interstate 185 near Macon Road , Columbus police said.
The suspects were identified as Lorenzo Tatum, 32, and Jemayel Madison, 33, both of Columbus. Tatum was charged with one count each of possession of Ecstasy, trafficking in Ecstasy, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm of knife during the commission or attempt to commit certain crimes and five counts of terroristic threats after his 1:36 a.m. arrest. Madison was charged with seven counts of forgery second degree, possession of Ecstasy, possession of marijuana, drugs not in original container and three counts of probation violation.
After a 9 a.m. hearing Tuesday in Recorder’s Court, Tatum was ordered held without bond in the Muscogee County Jail on the probation violation and bonds totaling almost $32,000 were set on other charges. Madison was ordered held without bond on three counts of probation violation and bonds totaling more than $16,500 were set on the other charges.
Police said the men were riding in a vehicle when it was stopped while traveling northbound on I-185 near the Macon Road exit. In addition to the drugs found in the vehicle, police also seized a gun.
