Inmate death in Georgia prison being investigated
The death of inmate in a Georgia prison is being investigated.
According to a report from the Georgia Department of Corrections, which is handling the investigation, Caleb Mitchell was found unresponsive in his cell at Valdosta State Prison at 1:40 p.m. Monday.
He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after prison staff attempted to provide life saving measures to revive him.
He was pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday by a hospital physician.
The death is believed to be a suicide.
Mitchell was sentenced with robbery by intimidation in 2015 in Union County.
