Body found in wooded area in Phenix City
The Phenix City Police Department has begun an investigation after a male body was found in a wooded area.
The name of the deceased has yet to be released. The manner of his death remains under investigation, Lt. Darrel Lassiter said Monday afternoon.
According to a police report, the body was found Friday in an area between Brickyard Road and Colin Powell Parkway. He was on the ground in the area of a campsite.
The body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.
