Additional Alabama State Troopers on roads for holiday season
There will be additional Alabama State Troopers on the roads up until midnight on Jan. 1.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency made the announcement.
Troopers will heighten patrols and enforcement so the ALEA is encouraging everyone to obey traffic laws including everyone wearing a seat belt and not driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Also, no texting.
Secretary of Law Enforcement Stan Stabler said 14 traffic deaths were investigated during the five-day Thanksgiving travel period. During the two-week holiday traveling period in 2016, 26 traffic deaths were investigated.
