Police say accused shoplifter found with drugs

Columbus police say a woman suspected of shoplifting was found in possession of methamphetamine.

According to a police report, 28-year-old Jessica Louise Scott of Columbus was arrested Wednesday.

She is scheduled to be in Columbus Recorder’s Court Thursday at 8 a.m.

Police say Scott was seen walking in a parking lot on Veterans Parkway and she matched the description of a a person suspected of shoplifting at Walmart on Whittlesey Boulevard.

The officer said when he approached Scott she ran and hid in some bushes and then ran across Veterans Parkway.

Police say when she was searched, Scott was found to have 2.1 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $210. She also had a smoking device. Police say she was also in possession of a pair of pink shoes from Walmart.

According to the police report, she was charged with possession and use of drug related items, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine and theft by shoplifting.
