Man, 23, accused of raping girl under age 16
A 23-year-old Columbus man is accused of having sex with a girl under age 16, police said Friday.
Raymond Lee Dixon was taken into custody on outstanding warrants at 501 Fifth Ave. by the Special Victims Unit. He was charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and statutory rape and held in the Muscogee County Jail. A Recorder’s Court hearing is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday .
A police investigation shows the incident occurred sometime between Oct. 1 and Nov. 12 at a North Lumpkin Road residence. Police were called to an Alton Street address on Nov. 24 to check on an incident.
Under Georgia law, a person commits the offense of statutory rape when he or she engages in sexual intercourse with any person under the age of 16.
