Coroner: No foul play suspected after body found along U.S. Highway 27

No foul play is suspected after a man’s body was found Tuesday on the side of U.S. Highway 27 near Pine Mountain, authorities said Wednesday.

The man in his 40s wasn’t identified because all relatives haven’t been contacted, said Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon. The man was pronounced dead at 2 p.m. at the scene near the concrete railroad trestle.

The coroner said the body will be transported to the crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy. Weldon said the man wasn’t from the area and may have been homeless . “Everything looks like it’s natural causes,” the coroner said.

The snow storm that swept through the Chattahoochee Valley may have contributed to not reaching the man’s relatives.

“I have an ID but I’m still working to get everybody notified,” he said. “With this weather, it kind of put a little damper on everything.”
