Opelika police called to 43 crashes over two-day period

The Opelika Police Department was called to 43 crashes during a two-day period when snow fell in East Alabama.

In a report on the winter weather, police said the crashes occurred between 6 p.m. Tuesday and noon Thursday. Four of the crashes involved injuries.

The traffic crashes ranged from very minor to major but no fatalities were recorded. During the same time period, police went to 122 calls to assist motorists.

Weather conditions resulted in the partial closure of portions of Interstate 85, Oak Bowery Road and Second Avenue.
