Second man charged with raping 13-year-old girl
A second man was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped after running away from a youth development center in October, according to a news release from Auburn police.
Corey Heard, 36, was arrested on Sunday and charged with first-degree rape. He was booked into the Lee County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
He was taken into custody weeks after 37-year-old Brian Askew was apprehended Jan. 5 on one count of first-degree rape stemming from the case. He was issued an additional charge of first-degree human trafficking and remains in the jail under bonds totaling $250,000.
Auburn police said a 13-year-old ran away from a youth development center in October and was later kidnapped by a group of men in a vehicle. She was taken to a residence in Auburn, where authorities said she was held against her will and sexually assaulted.
Askew and Heard were identified as two of the men who were involved. No further details were given.
