Four people found with nearly $3,000 worth of marijuana, Columbus police say

The Metro Narcotics Task Force found nearly $3,000 worth of marijuana early Thursday while searching a Columbus home on 18th Avenue, according to testimony Friday in Recorder's Court.

Anthony Edwards, 39; Ramone Griffin, 43; Michael Edwards, 43; and Shawanda Snellings, 37, were taken into custody on the scene. They face one count each of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of Suboxone and possession of drug-related objects.

Anthony Edwards faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Metro Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant around 6:15 a.m. Thursday at a Columbus residence at 1202 18th Ave. All four suspects were found at the home.

During the search, authorities said they located 438.3 grams of marijuana (street value of $2,776), 61.1 grams of spice, and 4.1 grams of powdered cocaine (street value of $410) and 23 strips of Suboxone (street value of $230).

Spice is a mix of herbs and manmade chemicals with mind-altering effect. Officials said they are going to test the drug before charging anyone with its possession.

Griffin pleaded not guilty to his charges Friday morning, but the preliminary hearing for the other co-defendants was continued until a later date.

Judge Julius Hunter bound the case over to Superior Court.
