Man found with more than $1,000 worth of marijuana, Columbus police say
A Columbus man was found with more than $1,000 worth of marijuana Monday morning during a traffic stop near South Lumpkin Road, authorities said.
Jakorey Thomas, 22, faces one count each of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects, theft by receiving stolen property and turning without a signal. He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail.
A Columbus police officer said he was near Wise Street around 11:30 a.m. Monday when he saw a man in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am turning right on South Lumpkin Road into the parking lot of Club Dream without using a turning signal.
Thomas was identified as the driver.
Police conducted a traffic stop and found 3.65 ounces of marijuana (street value of $1,027), one Glock 19 gun with 16 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, one box of ammunition, two black digital scales and $1,730 in cash.
Authorities said the $600 gun was reported stolen.
