Man broke into Japanese steakhouse, Columbus police say
A Columbus man was charged in a business burglary that occurred late Tuesday at the Fuji Japanese Steakhouse on Veterans Parkway, authorities said.
Joseph Martin, 39, faces one count of second-degree burglary in connection with the 11:42 p.m. incident. He is incarcerated at the Muscogee County Jail, where he awaits his Feb. 8 hearing in Columbus Recorder's Court.
Columbus police were called to the Fuji Japanese Steakhouse at 6499 Veterans Parkway on Wednesday to investigate the break-in. Martin was charged in the case later that day.
He appeared in Recorder's Court Thursday morning to face the charge. The hearing was then continued until a later date, so Martin would have time to contact his wife about hiring an attorney.
