Opelika teen dies in one-car crash on Alabama 51
An Opelika teen is dead after the car he was driving left Alabama 51 and struck a tree, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Saturday.
Cornelius Surratt Jr., 18, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:41 a.m. crash near the 106 mile marker about six miles south of Opelika, state troopers said.
Surratt wasn’t wearing a seat belt when his 2015 Kia Forte ran off of the roadway. The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
