A Columbus man who was injured in a south Columbus shooting four weeks ago that claimed the life of another local man was shot and killed late Saturday night on Winston Road, according to Columbus police.

Darrell Boggans, 43, died from multiple gunshot wounds suffered in a Saturday night shooting, Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said Sunday morning. Boggans was shot along Winston Road and police were called to the scene at 9:23 p.m. The victim was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Worley said.

Boggans residence was on Head Street, which is not far from where he was shot.

Witnesses told police that the suspect was between 20 and 26 years old, between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall and was slim.

Boggans was one of two men wounded in the Easter morning nightclub shooting that claimed the life of Alec Spencer, 24. Spencer was shot at an after-hours club at 480 Andrews Road just before 4 a.m. Spencer was pronounced dead at Piedmont Medical Center shortly after the shooting.

Daniel Pitts and Boggans were also shot in that incident. Pitts suffered serious injuries and Boggans was taken by private vehicle to the emergency room, where he was treated and released for his injuries.

Police have issued arrest warrants charging 24-year-old Damion Marquez “Dae-Dae” Collier with aggravated assault, being a convicted felon with a firearm and using a gun to commit a crime in connection with the Andrews Road shooting. There has not been an arrest in that homicide.
