Clerk doused in face with hot sauce during robbery at convenience store
A convenience store clerk in Valley was doused with hot sauce Sunday during a robbery at the CV Express on River Road, police said Tuesday.
The 73-year-old clerk was treated for an orange liquid in her face and eyes at the 304 River Road business by the East Alabama Fire Department and emergency medical services personnel. She was found in pain, sitting behind the counter after police arrived.
Police said Michael Brisky, 42, of Lafayette admitted to the robbery. He was charged with one count each of robbery first degree and theft of property fourth degree and held in the Chambers County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $27,500.
After talking with a man in a blue windbreaker in the parking lot, the clerk told police that he entered the store and bought two pieces of candy. A cup full of liquid was flung in her face after she opened the register to give him change. They struggled over the cash drawer before he fled on foot.
Detectives were called to the scene where they reviewed surveillance video at the store and identified the suspect identified as Brisky. He was picked up by patrol units three blocks from the scene.
